America Changed My Life

Grateful to Call America Home

The Country That Changed My Life

Something you might not know about me is I was born a Persian Kurd and came to the United States as an immigrant when I was six years old. I didn’t speak the language, didn’t know the customs, and couldn’t have imagined what this country would come to mean to me.

The opportunities I’ve had here to become a physician and researcher, and more recently to define wisdom, and write Common Wisdom, would not have been possible had I remained in the middle east.

Women in the region I came from lacked guaranteed access to education, independence, a voice, and various life choices. This country gave me all of it.

Freedom is something we often take for granted until we understand what life can look like without it. The freedom to speak openly, to pursue our dreams, to choose our own path, and to reinvent ourselves, as many times as we’d like, is a gift that should be celebrated.

I’m proud to be an American and so happy that I get to raise my children in a country that encourages possibility and values individual potential. This country is not perfect — no country is. But it opened its doors to a little Kurdish girl and said: you belong here, too. And for that I am so grateful!

This week, as a small expression of that gratitude, I’m offering 40% off the Common Wisdom Bundle. Because wisdom has the power to change the trajectory of your life and I am living proof of this.

Use code FREEDOM at checkout to receive this offer.
